Roblox Game Design
From Roblox player to Roblox game maker
A 2-week group bootcamp in Roblox Studio and Lua scripting for ages 8β12. Build an obstacle course, a physics sandbox and a multiplayer game, then publish your own original game to Roblox on session 6.

What They'll Build in 6 Sessions
Four complete Roblox projects, from first script to published game.
Obstacle Course (Obby)
A multi-stage Roblox obby with custom geometry, kill blocks, moving platforms and a finish line with prize.
Physics Sandbox
A Roblox world where players experiment with physics, bouncy materials, zero-gravity zones, catapults and explosions.
First Multiplayer Game
A scripted multiplayer experience with teams, a scoring system and a round timer, working in Roblox's multiplayer framework.
Published Portfolio Game
The student's own original game concept, built from scratch, polished and published on Roblox with a thumbnail and description.
What We Cover
From Studio basics to a published, shareable Roblox game.
Sessions 1β3: Roblox Studio & Scripting
Roblox Studio Tour
Parts, unions, properties, workspace orientation, building a test map.
Scripting Basics
Lua variables, loops, functions, printing to output.
Player Control & Events
Detecting player touch, writing server scripts, client-server model intro.
Sessions 4β6: Physics & Publishing
Physics Properties
Gravity, density, elasticity, CanCollide, anchored vs unanchored.
Physics Sandbox Build
Building an interactive physics world with scripted triggers.
Multiplayer Systems
Team configuration, leaderboard scripting, round management.
Who This Camp Is For
Great fit β
- Kids aged 8β12 who play Roblox and want to build their own games
- Children with basic computer confidence (no coding experience needed)
- Young game designers who have ideas for what they'd build if they could
- Students who've done basic Scratch and want to level up to a real game engine
Not the right fit β
- Children under 8, the Lua scripting concepts require reading comprehension and basic logic
- Children 13+ who've done programming before, our Teen Game Development course is more appropriate
Camp Format
1 Hour Per Session
Focused, well-paced sessions that keep energy high. Three sessions per week gives time to practise and consolidate between classes.
Roblox Studio (Free)
Free download for Windows and macOS. We send a setup guide before the camp starts, typically 20 minutes to install.
Build-First Curriculum
We build from session 1. The first thing students make is a playable Roblox world, concepts follow naturally from building.
Small Group Format
Camp classes are small groups, enough peers to collaborate and share ideas, small enough that every student gets meaningful attention from the instructor.
Curriculum designed by educators & engineers from
What Parents Say
βHe played Roblox for hours every day. The camp turned that time into something constructive, and now he builds his own games instead of just playing other people's.β

Roblox Game Design CampβShe published her first Roblox game on the final session. Her friends played it that afternoon. She kept refreshing the visit counter. I've never seen her so proud of something she made.β

Roblox Game Design CampβThe small group format meant there was real energy in every session. Students helping each other debug, comparing maps, friendly competition. The instructor kept it moving and my son loved every minute.β

Frequently Asked Questions
Q.Does my child need to have played Roblox before?
It helps but isn't required. What matters more is that they're comfortable with a computer and can follow on-screen instructions. Children who play Roblox already will be especially motivated, they can see exactly what the end goal looks like.
Q.Is Roblox safe for kids to use during the camp?
Roblox Studio (the game-building tool we use) is a standalone application with no social features. All sessions take place inside Studio, not the Roblox player. Safe, focused and distraction-free.
Q.Can my child's published game be played by others?
Yes, published Roblox games are accessible to anyone with a Roblox account. Students can share a direct link with friends and family immediately on publication day. Parents can review and optionally keep the game private if preferred.
Q.What's the difference between this camp and Roblox coding as a term-time course?
The camp is a concentrated 2-week sprint, ideal if you want results during a holiday. The term-time Roblox Coding course (part of our Kids programme) covers the same concepts over a slower, weekly pace, better for sustainable long-term learning. Many students do both.
Q.What Lua scripting level will my child reach by the end?
Variables, functions, conditional logic, loops, event handlers and basic client-server scripting. Enough to script a complete, functional game independently. This is roughly the equivalent of 3β4 months of weekly Lua tuition compressed into 2 weeks.
